Discover Spritzal Cookie Company + Branchfood Member Monday

At Branchfood we strive to support the efforts of our industry-leading members and highlight their great work in many ways. To that end, we launched Member Monday, a campaign that seeks to support members’ and their efforts in building industry transformative businesses.

Tune in to check out our members taking over our Instagram and revealing what inspired their entrepreneurial pursuits, how they launched their products, and what is in store for their future.

To kick off this exciting campaign, we are happy to spotlight Taylor Walker, Cofounder, and VP of Sales & Marketing from Spritzal Cookie Company. Successful from the start, Spritzal launched in April 2014, and by June 2014 began to outgrow their kitchen space. In January 2015, Spritzal relocated to a larger kitchen incubator and by October of that year the company moved to their own commercial kitchen in Rockland, MA where they continue to make cookies today.

Tell us more about you and Spritzal Cookies.

My mom, Jody, and I are the mother-daughter creative forces of Spritzal Cookie Company. I have a degree in musical theater with a marketing minor from Oklahoma City University. I thought acting was where I was heading, but my zeal for sales and marketing led to a career as an entrepreneur alongside my mom with Spritzal.

My mom (Jody) has a degree in hotel/restaurant management from UMass Amherst. She pursued her degree in hotel restaurant management in the late 70’s and worked for the Hyatt chain, restaurants and eventually married and worked with her husband running their commercial roofing business as a treasurer.

What do you like most about being an entrepreneur?

The thing I like most is putting my time and energy into something I am passionate about. I love to create, bake, sell, and market so I can combine all of my passions into the Spritzal Cookie brand. You’ll never find an employee who is as passionate about your work as you.

What were the biggest challenges that you faced in your Spritzal journey?

So far, our biggest obstacles have been the scaling up that we’ve accomplished. We’ve gone from a two-person team doing everything to having some extended partners who help manage supply chain, manufacturing, sales, and distribution.

COVID-19 has unfortunately been an obstacle for growth. Half of our customers closed down due to restrictions and buyers had pushed off new products. But, we are seeing a change in the buyer response as we progress into Q2/Q3 with a successful finish to our 2020 year!

How has the Branchfood membership benefited you?

I joined Branchfood to co-mingle with fellow foodie entrepreneurs. As I have grown the business, I’ve been able to take advantage of networking, meeting new people and take part in webinars and meetings during the bumpy road to success.

What are you working towards right now?

Our mother/daughter team just re-branded and launched our new look in the Fall of 2019 with a national account, HomeGoods with several blue chip companies as customers.

Where can we find Spritzal?

Spritzal cookies can be found in Roche Bros, Brother’s Marketplace supermarkets, Christmas Tree Shops, Burlington Stores, Encore Boston Harbor, Mohegan Sun and Board 143 with a few amazing new customers in the pipeline.
